It's a quarter to midnight, so l'll call this the end of my #24b42020
Not too bad. Would have liked to put in more time for reading, but too much is going on at the moment.

This is the book of a friend, focusing on Tolkien's art.
Very nice and easy to read.

Pickpick

This book contains several series of illustrations from early sketches through final color illustrations that Tolkien made to go with The Hobbit. I appreciate the opportunity to see the development of his art just as I have the development and revision of his writing.

#MiddleEarthMarch Day 3: Crickhollow refers to Frodo leaving home, but my immediate thought was this meme of Bilbo. I love immersing myself in the world of a book.

#YearofTolkien

Daisey @JazzFeathers I really enjoyed this, but I might look at a few other books as well before buying any for myself. Many of the illustrations are the same as those in History of The Hobbit, although this has more color images. I think I might rather add The Annotated Hobbit and (edited) 5y
JazzFeathers @Daisey The Annotated Hobbit is truly fantastic. I should reread it. 5y

Day 1: My path to Tolkien began with reading The Hobbit. I‘m pretty sure my dad first recommended to me.

Day 2: Just yesterday I picked up a copy of The Art of The Hobbit and I love this illustration made by Tolkien of Hobbiton. The book includes a selection of sketches and drawings that show a series of revisions before this final color version.

Lindy I read The Hobbit when I was in Grade 6 and the transportive experience has stayed with me ever since. 😊 5y
Daisey @Lindy I‘ve loved Tolkien‘s books since I first read them, but rediscovering and delving deeper into his writing over the last couple of years has been amazing. 5y
JazzFeathers So many people seem to have come to Tolkien with the Hobbit. Me too 😊 5y
