I Can't Think Straight
I Can't Think Straight | Shamim Sarif
2 posts | 4 read | 4 to read
Spirited Christian Tala and shy Muslim Leyla could not be more different from each other, but the attraction is immediate and goes deeper than friendship. Moving between Middle Eastern high society and Londons West End, this story explores the clashes between East and West, love and marriage, and convention and individuality creating a humorous and tender tale of unexpected love.

Bailedbailed

I hate bailing on my #bookspin book, but here we are and I‘m doing it. The writing is so bad I kept having to go back and try to figure out if I missed something. In some places the grammar made no sense whatsoever. Maybe it‘s a bad translation? Oh well, on to the next thing.

AudiobookingWithLeah You're not alone. I just did this today for my #bookspin book. Yikes 😖 2y
TheAromaofBooks Sometimes a book just isn't a good match. I get so frustrated when the main issue are things that should have been caught by a decent (awake??) editor! 2y

#LPMBC #GROUPL

Here are some more traditional f/f romances that I haven‘t read and would like to. Any of these call to you? (And which haven‘t you read @WanderingBookaneer ? I‘d rather get one no one has read before.)

Of these the tagged is the one I‘m most drawn to, but Get it Right and Curious Wine also sound especially good. (Tagging all of these below.)

Soubhiville Get it Right isn‘t in the Litsy database, but here‘s the Goodreads link: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/53918331 3y
WanderingBookaneer I read a lot and I am okay with rereading books. From your other post I own but have not read Hold Still & Here Comes the Sun.

From this post I have read Keeping You a Secret (Julie Ann Peters was a favorite of mine back in the day), Curious Wine (from the lesbian classics spree I mentioned in your other post), and I think I read I Can't Think Straight, but it is not on my Goodreads so now I am doubting it.

I'll (re)read whatever the others pick

WanderingBookaneer Same! @BookishMarginalia and I had a meaningful conversation with Taylor Jenkins Reid about the book, which is a favorite of ours. 3y

Eventerj9 Curious Wine sounds good to me. 3y
Eyelit My romance book club is trying to get the author of Get it Right to come to one of our meetings this year (probably June) - want me keep you updated? I‘m sure you‘d be welcome to come to that meeting 3y
Soubhiville @Eyelit that would be awesome! Thanks! 3y
Soubhiville @Eventerj9 do you know what books you might choose from? 3y
RaeAragorn Curious Wine was the very first lesfic I read. I was 17 and found it in the basement level of an old opera house turned used book store. The ceiling was low and the shelves were crammed with random paperbacks. I was literally in my closet reading it with a flashlight that night. 3y
WanderingBookaneer Can you forward the email with the addresses? I can‘t find it in my inbox. The only emails from Suellen I have are from 2019! jsimitapr@yahoo.com Thank you! 3y
