Blaze (or Love in the Time of Supervillains)
Blaze (or Love in the Time of Supervillains) | Laurie Boyle Crompton
1 post | 1 read | 2 to read
Blaze is tired of spending her life on the sidelines. All she wants is for Mark the Soccer Stud to notice her. Not as Josh's weird sister who drives a turd-brown minivan. And not as that nerdy girl who draws comics. What she gets is her very own arch-nemesis. Name: Mark Deninger, aka Mark the Shark Occupation: Soccer star and all-around lady killer Relationship Status: Serial dater Group Affiliation: No loyalty Known Superpowers: Anti-girlfriend force field, breaking hearts Mark may have humiliated Blaze supervillian-style, but what he doesn't know is how geek girls always get revenge. #GeekGrlzRevenge

Ugh, what a waste of my Sunday morning lie-in. DNF'd at 25%

I borrowed this from the library because it looked cool. Then I read some bad reviews. They were not wrong!

This book is just horrible. It's sexist, misogynist and the amount of slut shaming is beyond belief. It's also homophobic and ableist - who know a book could be so many disgusting things!

Sarz It's meant to be about comics and superheroes, but it's just offensive to geek/nerd culture. 5y
Sarz Also, taking and distributing explicit images without consent is SEXUAL ASSAULT! It doesn't matter who it's done by. I bailed before the revenge porn by the male love interest. But when the supposed 'friend' taking and sending a 'sexy pic' is played off as just a normal teen embarrassment, I had to literally throw this aside. No thanks! 5y
