Lots to like about this book. It introduces a person whom many haven‘t heard of, it recognizes some of her flaws and the challenges they presented, and the art conveys a great sense of movement that is appropriate to the text. Review continued in comments.

Krisjericho Here‘s what I don‘t love - it literally says that “Althea realized she could dress up in white and act like a lady...” Why? There are so many better ways to explain that she learned that sportsmanship is an important part of sports without resorting to that horrible and poorly worded cliche. It also jumps forward in time very quickly without much context. Overall, it is a good introduction to an interesting person, with a few caveats. 6y
