The Human Zoo
The Human Zoo | Desmond Morris
1 post | 2 read | 8 to read
This study concerns the city dweller. Morris finds remarkable similarities with captive zoo animals and looks closely at the aggressive, sexual and parental behaviour of the human species under the stresses and pressures of urban living.

Thoughts on human behavior as seen from a biologist studying a complex species in a (self made) unnatural caged habitat. Bold and thought provoking! 👏🏼 #desmondmorris #thehumanzoo #biology #anthropology #psychology #philosophy #sociology #books #classic #thinkdeep #alwayslearning #studentoflife

Jess_Franzino What field of Psychology do you study? I‘m Analytic with a focus on Archetypal, myself 😃 6y
Charmed89 Hey @Jess_Franzino, I‘m very much interested in everything Jungian, but I study it as a hobby (for now). I‘m actually a middle school biology teacher/school counselor. Where do you study? 6y
Jess_Franzino @Charmed89 I‘m currently knocking off a few Psych credits I was short of in Undergrad at CUNY ,(my Undergrad was in Funeral Home Management). Though, after that, hopefully the C.G. Jung Institute of New York. The novel I‘m writing and the research involved with it, is actually going to be a big part of the portfolio I‘m making for Admissions :) 6y

Jess_Franzino @Charmed89 I actually wanted to focus mostly on Archetypal, especially in regard to using mythical models as a basis of Archetype, but such a program is only offered at the Pacifica Graduate Institute in CA, and I‘m not going to move across the country. I may check out what supplemental work I can do with them, though. 6y
Charmed89 @Jess_Franzino wow, how cool! Maybe one day your novel will even be featured here😃. Wishing you all the best with your novel and hoping you will soon be accepted to the institute 😉 (edited) 6y
Jess_Franzino @Charmed89 Thanks! I can only hope, lol. My novel has the Greek Gods as the characters, but is more Psychology & Philosophy wrapped in a Fantasy package....in other words, very weird 😆 It will be a few years, both on the novel & the Institute, but a lot of work in the meantime prepping for both. 6y
