Mehso-so

So, I am finally participating in #winterreadathon! I have been in a reading slump, mainly due to overload at work. This is the first book I finished since the second week of November.

I loved Victoria Holt as a teenager and maybe teenage angst is required. The book was slow and I didn‘t necessarily understand the motivations of the characters. The gothic sense wasn‘t really there either. Just a so-so for me.

Andrew65 Well done on finishing it, good luck for the rest of the Readathon. 🎄🎄🎄 1y

Pickpick

. My grandma would give me books from Readers Digest condensed books, or cut from magazines. This was a favorite. And on my mind because of reading A Christmas Promise. I can agree it is a formulaic gothic romance, but I still love it so much ❤️ I‘m glad it was my date for New Years Day.

Ruthiella My mother read Victoria Holt books a ton! 2y
LeahBergen I read so many Victoria Holts in my teens. ❤️ 2y

Bailedbailed

Sorry, @thevictoriousone, I was so bored. I got 5% in during the whole month I had this checked out and decided not to renew.

thevictoriousone Sad face! But understandable. Her books do take quite a while to get going most of the time. She feels the need to chronicle a character‘s entire childhood most of the time. Maybe I should find one that picks up quicker to see if you‘d like that one better. 6y
everlocalwest I might try this one again later. I never really bail on books, I just put them on long-term hold. 6y
