Too simple and short. I enjoyed the concept of dividing the human-nature connection into easily digestible parts the author used, but each needed more details. The tone of the book was a bit condescending. I suppose this is for “nature beginners”: either children or people who‘ve rarely been outside would benefit from this. Though I did learn a few things, so it wasn‘t all bad! I listened to the audio on hoopla with less-than-stellar narration.

After my PCT hike, I was excited to spot this title and build upon my own discoveries in reading nature. While there are quite a few nuggets of information and some good insights, the book was underwhelming. Quite a bit was simplistic, almost in the patronizing way of a poor YA writer. Still, I was rewarded with some good parts when my reading turned to skimming. I‘m hoping some of the recommended readings (“homework”) will prove more intriguing.

keithmalek @Clwojick My wife is a receptionist for the corporate office of a major bookstore chain, so I often get advanced copies of books. And yes, in case you're wondering, I do indeed beg her every day to not ever quit her job. 6y

The wispy, candy-floss-like clouds that form 'mare's tails' are called cirrus. When a blue sky is visited by cirrus followed by cirrostratus, there is a high probability that these are the clouds at the leading edge of a warm front. Warm fronts bring lots of rain.

No_One This one is actually already on my Goodreads ‘want to read‘ list. I almost bought it in the UK in May. 6y

TV satellite dishes can be used to navigate. In the UK they tend to point close to southeast.
