pickThis B book is about Dr. Elizabeth Blackwell. It starts in 1840 when there was no such thing as woman doctors. Elizabeth shows determination and gets accepted into a medical school. It describes her hardships and how she repeatedly has to prove herself to the male doctors and her professors. It took courage to be the first is an excellent quote and is outlined in this book. ashley.v UDL principles are 2.1 and 2.2. 2.1 to explain some medical jargon used in the book, 2.2 because there are some old English phrases that the students may not understand. ESOL principles are 5 because of the medical jargon and 6 because comprehension can be more difficult with nonfiction 6y
