Apothecary Rose - Rosa gallica officinalis has a fascinating history. In medieval times it's petals & hips were used for medicine. Very fragrant, making it perfect for lotions & creams. It's the Red Rose of House of Lancaster from War of Roses.
It's obviously pink.🤔 If you know why that is, please tell me. #bloomoftheday #inmygarden

Andrew65 Found this comment on Wikipedia, 'the Red Rose of Lancaster is the county flower of Lancashire. The exact species or cultivar which the red rose relates to is uncertain, but it is thought to be Rosa gallica officinalis.'. Looks exactly the same as your picture, which is definitely not red and all the flags etc for Lancashire are most definitely red! 7y
