More About Boy is the story of Roald Dahl's very own boyhood, as told in Boy, featuring never-seen before material from behind the scenes, and some of the secrets he left out. Enjoy tales of sweet-shops and chocolate, mean old ladies and a great Mouse Plot - the inspiration for some of his most marvellous storybooks in the years to come.

In the book lots of descriptive words were used to create images in my head. I could properly imagine what was going on in the book because of the descriptive language used, phrases like similes, metaphors, personification etc.

The things that happen in the book would probably happen in real life. Roalds lifestyle in the book is very similar to how things are in some other countries. In my old country I also used to go to a school with strict teachers, so I always had to behave, so I think that this happens in a lot more countries other than mine.

Roald Dahl structured the book from when he was still really young up until his midlife. I think he structured it this way to tell us about his life from beginning to end. All the things that he went through as a child that built up his character and his love for writing. He definitely had many stories to tell about his life, so he put them in a book the revolves around him and the things he did during his life.

From what I read today, Roalds teachers were very strict and didn't tolerate and foolish actions, or anything disrespectful. At my old school back in my home country, the teachers were quite similar, they would shout at you if you did something you weren't supposed to. I'm sure this is not the only place that does things like that many countries deal with things that way because that's their way of discipline.

So far the book has been quite informative, he's really just introducing everyone who played a big role in his life. At the moment he just introduced the mean old lady who works at the neighbourhood candy shop. She isn't very nice to them on their visits to her shop, so they're plotting to put a death rat into one of the candy jars.

I chose this book because it talks about how Roald went through hi life in the 1920s and I guess I wanted to see the difference between then and now. So far life has in school has changed a lot like, they used to wear uniforms and the teachers were strict about that.

I finished my regular edition copy of this and then got this extended edition at my library. It took me about an hour to skim the extended edition as I only read the new bits and looked at the new pictures. The regular edition was a fast read and I enjoyed it. I plan to read Going Solo (Roald Dahl's autobiography of his WWII pilot days) very soon.
