Penelope ( a Madcap Regency Romance )
Penelope ( a Madcap Regency Romance ) | Anya Wylde
2 posts | 4 read | 1 reading | 8 to read
Leaving behind the rural charms of Finnshire, Miss Penelope Fairweather arrives in London with hope in her heart and a dream in her eye. The dowager, no less, has invited her for a season in London, where she will attempt to catch a husband. Thus begins our heroine's tale as she attempts to tackle the London season with all her rustic finesse. Unfortunately, her rustic finesse turns out to be as delicate as a fat bear trying to rip apart a honeycomb infested with buzzing bees. What follows is a series of misadventures, love affairs, moonlit balls, fancy clothes, fake moustaches, highwaymen, sneering beauties, pickpockets, and the wrath of a devilishly handsome duke.

I was feeling a bit down, thinking that I hadn't read enough lately. Then I looked at My Goodreads challenge and now I feel better.

Riveted_Reader_Melissa Good for you! You might have to increase your goal this year!👍 7y
minkyb That was an easy fix! 7y
Lynnsoprano @Riveted_Reader_Melissa That actually was a big increase from last year's goal, but that was before I became a Litten😄 7y
Riveted_Reader_Melissa @Lynnsoprano #BlameItOnLitsy you will find is a popular tag here, Litsy has some of the best kind of peer pressure! :) (edited) 7y
Riveted_Reader_Melissa Just think, at 22% you've reached almost a quarter of your goal in only 2 months. You only need to read 3 books in all of March to stay on track! I bet that thought makes you feel good too... plus if you log into the main Goodreads site (full site) it will tell you how many books ahead of schedule you are...which is a nice moral boost when you need it next. 7y

Pickpick

A quick, fun read. It's billed as a madcap romance, and it lives up to its billing. If you like klutzy, no filter characters, you will love Penelope. There are a couple of interesting twists, but it's an easy, relaxing read that will make you smile.

SaraRosett That dress doesn't say "Regency" to me. 7y
Clare-Dragonfly @SaraRosett I've been noticing dress incongruities on romance covers lately! That dress looks very Victorian, I agree. 7y
Lynnsoprano @SaraRosett @Clare-Dragonfly I know! And I have another book on my Kindle that is exactly the same except for dress and hair cover. Somebody's cutting corners. 7y
SaraRosett @Clare-Dragonfly @Lynnsoprano: makes me a little leery if the cover doesn't match the book description! 7y
