The Ghost Hunters
The Ghost Hunters | Neil Spring

Welcome to Borley Rectory, the most haunted house in England. The year is 1926 and Sarah Grey has landed herself an unlikely new job - personal assistant to Harry Price, London's most infamous ghost hunter. Equal parts brilliant and charming, neurotic and manipulative, Harry has devoted his life to exposing the truth behind England's many 'false hauntings', and never has he left a case unsolved, nor a fraud unexposed. So when Harry and Sarah are invited to Borley Rectory - a house so haunted that objects frequently fly through the air unbidden, and locals avoid the grounds for fear of facing the spectral nun that walks there - they're sure that this case will be just like any other. But when night falls and still no artifice can be found, the ghost hunters are forced to confront an uncomfortable possibility: the ghost of Borley Rectory may be real. And, if so, they're about to make its most intimate acquaintance.

Bailedbailed

Alright I started this way over a year ago and have not felt a single urge to pick it back up at any point since then. I tried to read where I left off and found it really wasn‘t keeping my interest. So I‘m bailing. I‘m trying to be better about bailing on books I‘m not enjoying, so many books so little time!

Texreader It feels so good once you get over the “guilt” for not finishing a book to be able to bail and move on to better books! Good luck! It can be a hurtle! Not every book is for every reader. Right? 3y
RainyDayReading @Texreader It‘s a relief to be able to take it off my TBR shelf. One less thing to worry about! Exactly and I‘m sure someone else will love the book, it just wasn‘t the book for me. 3y

Apparently there was a programme called #Spooked in 2014. I know nothing of it other than it was about a group of ghost hunters.

Currently reading on this snowy night.
What‘s ironic about it is that I bought this book because it sounded like a haunted house story. Yesterday I listened to an episode of And That‘s Why We Drink where they talked about the Borley Rectory and Harry Price. Guess what the haunted house in this book is? 😁 Completely coincidental but having some background knowledge on the rectory should be interesting while reading this...

jenreads7 What a cool coincidence! I would find the book more interesting with some background too. Enjoy! 5y

Pickpick

Loosely based on a true story, this book could have been a very scary tale. Instead it reads as if the author couldn‘t make up their mind if they wanted to debunk the haunting or go with the idea there was something to it. It‘s also about 150 pages too long. Rating: 3.5 🌟
