Big Nate All Work and No Play
Big Nate All Work and No Play | Lincoln Peirce
5 posts | 2 read
Already a New York Times best-seller, it's two firsts in one for a Big Nate book! The first Sundays-only and first full-color Big Nate collection both debut in Big Nate All Work and No Play. Enjoy more than two years of Sunday cartoons, portraying the colorful life of Nate Wright. This spunky eleven-year-old holds the school record for detentions and is in little chance of losing that distinction, but that doesn't stop him from dreaming big! He's a self-described genius, a sixth-grade renaissance man, and a full-fledged believer in his future as a cartoonist. Equipped with a No. 2 pencil and the unshakable belief that he is No. 1, Nate fights a daily battle against overzealous teachers, undercooked cafeteria food, and all-around conventionality.

I have had almost no time to read recently! After a whirlwind house-hunting trip, we got home only to realize how little time we have before our move. Once I started thinking number of days instead of number of weeks it really hit me. So now it‘s tons of work, trying to hit the last things while we‘re still here...and very little grown-up reading time. Hope it improves soon. Wish me luck!

LiteraryinLawrence Good luck! We know you can do it! 6y

Pickpick

This is a comic strip that I enjoy and it reminded me how much I miss reading my comics regularly. I love that Nate wants to be a cartoonist so occasionally the panels are his efforts to do just that. It's a cartoon within a cartoon!

This is kind of me, although not right now. I can't find anything. Not even unimportant things like the rules of curling.

JackieSmith I have such fond memories of this series. My nephew didn't like to read until I bought him the first three of these..his name is also Nathan Wright! 7y
jpmcwisemorgan @JackieSmith That's a really good idea to get someone in to reading. 7y
JackieSmith I'm convinced that the difference between a "reader" & a "nonreader " is one book. ? 7y

It's raining in Austin so it's funny that I pick this to read and the first strip is this one. I'm a long-time comic reader but I've not kept up the last couple of years. I should remedy that.
