I have started Janice Hallett‘s The Appeal, Alex Michaelides‘ The Maidens, and The Bookshop of Yesterdays trying to pick a new #audiowalk book. These are all books I‘m pretty sure I will enjoy, but none of them are sticking right now. I‘m hoping A Killing on the Hill will capture my interest. The rain stopped around 2:00, so I got to go for a walk.

Bookwormjillk How is your knee feeling? 11h
LiteraryinLawrence I ended up liking The Appeal a lot, but I‘m not sure how well it would translate on audio? And The Maidens I found just ok. Hope you find something you love soon! 9h
KathyWheeler @LiteraryinLawrence I think that‘s why I quit with The Appeal — its formatting just seems odd. 9h
KathyWheeler @Bookwormjillk That steroid shot really helped, but I tend to baby it now if it‘s even slightly bothersome. 9h

I‘ve got a little under two hours left in this book, so I‘ll probably finish it tomorrow, but I haven‘t picked a new book yet. I managed to walk and not fall today, so that was good. #audiowalk

Shorter walk today because I tripped and fell on my bad knee and scraped my hand and cut my thumb. I‘m fine, but, weirdly, falling like that made me suddenly tired, so I went home. Tracy, in this book, is just not listening to me. I‘ve told her and told her not to trust a particular character, but she keeps on doing it. #audiowalk

Sace Oh dear! Sorry you had a spill. Take care of yourself. Characters never listen to me either and it's very frustrating. 5d
Tamra Shoot. 😒 No fun. 5d

I wasn‘t in the mood for the whiny breaking up characters of Funny Story, so I switched to the whiny for other reasons characters in Mary Kay Andrews‘ latest book. I‘ll go back to Funny Story later. It‘s getting to be in the 90s here, but at least there was a breeze. #audiowalk

The characters are likeable, and the story was interesting enough — Lila is asked to judge a teen beauty contest and ends up investigating a murder. However, this series is still just fine to me. There‘s so much description of the food, that it‘s easy to forget about the murder. I will probably listen to another in the series though, which is why it‘s a pick. Funny Story is my new #audiowalk book.

While I liked Arsenic and Adobo, I wasn‘t in love with it like a lot of people seemed to be. I decided to make the second book in the series my new #audiowalk book to see if I liked it any better. Another day with another 3 mile walk without pain. Yay! I considered 4, but decided not to push it.

Elijah Wood does a great job narrating this book; he was Huck. The story was a lot of fun, although the section with the King & the Duke was just a tad too long. My only problem with the book was the constant use of the n word; it made me cringe every time. On to Percival Everett‘s James after I finish The Fox Wife. 3 mile #audiowalk today with no knee pain!

Ruthiella Great news on the lack of knee pain! 🥳 2w
KathyWheeler @Ruthiella I was so happy about that. 😊 2w
Sace Hooray for knees without pain!🎉 2w

Bookwormjillk 3 miles is great! So glad you‘re walking without pain! 2w
KathyWheeler @Bookwormjillk My knee was so painful that I was truly afraid I was going to have to stop my walks. I was so happy the steroid shot worked! 2w

It‘s unusual to read a historical fiction set in ancient Mesopotamia, and I appreciated experiencing that culture. Jomar & Zefa are a brother & sister sent to the city of Ur to find a new life when their family is facing starvation on their farm. Jomar is apprenticed to a goldsmith, and Zefa tries to find her way as a musician.

*I received this #MiddleGrade #audiobook through the #Librofm Educator #ALC program.
Audio duration: 3 hours 34 minutes

Not very interesting scenery but at least I got to walk today. I‘m still babying my knee but that steroid shot really did help. With such short walks though, it‘s going to take me longer to finish the 3 hours I have left. Huck is getting a master course on how to be a conman! #audiowalk

After 9 days of knee pain where I was unable to walk the entire time, I was finally able to get out for a short #audiowalk today. It was one mile. After only being able to walk a few steps, I‘m thrilled about that! Continued down the river with Huck and Jim. Mother‘s Day books:

Klara and the Sun
The Kamogawa Food Detectives
The River Runs South
The Comfort of Crows
