We are headed to Maine next month! I‘m so excited and of course I want to read books set in Maine. Fiction, nonfiction, memoir—> send them my way!
I‘m planning to read:
Empire Falls
The Berry Pickers
The Road to Dalton
Landslide (Susan Conley)
What else should I read?

monkeygirlsmama Have fun! It looks so beautiful. Jon and I were supposed to have been moving there with our youngest this summer after she graduates. I'll most likely never even visit now. *sad panda* 💔💙 1mo

vlwelser I live near there. And I'm reading The Berry Pickers rn. Stephen King books are also often set in Maine (eg It). Because that's where he's from. 1mo
vlwelser This should keep you busy. 😂 1mo
JamieArc My family lives there so we visit often and love it there. The Nubble lighthouse is a common place to visit. This was a great audio. 1mo
Bookwormjillk I absolutely loved 1mo
vivastory My mind immediately went to Stephen King, but I'm guessing that's not what you're looking for 1mo
BarbaraBB You already read the Lucy Barton series I suppose? If you haven‘t read this Strout yet, it is highly recommended 1mo
BarbaraBB And this is one that I loved too 1mo
BarbaraBB And a last one that you‘ve probably read as well 1mo
Reggie I‘m here to also parrot the other 2 already here- Stephen King!!! lol even though you won‘t read him. 1mo
Chelsea.Poole @vlwelser Thank you! Rez was not one on my radar! Olive — I may have to revisit. I did read This Other Eden. How are you doing with Berry Pickers? I just checked it out. 1mo
Chelsea.Poole @vlwelser @vivastory @Reggie I did read this one years ago and actually enjoyed it! (edited) 1mo
Chelsea.Poole @Bookwormjillk thanks! I didn‘t realize Maine was the setting for A Piece of the World! 1mo
Chelsea.Poole @BarbaraBB thank you! Empire Falls I‘m set to try first, LOVED Cider House, and just added this suggestion from you 1mo
BarbaraBB You‘ll love them! 1mo
vlwelser I am literally on chapter 2 of Berry Pickers. I was trying to finish The Bee Sting before diving in. 1mo
Chelsea.Poole @JamieArc lovely that you get to visit often. This will be my first time..I‘ve always wanted to go. I‘ll keep in mind the lighthouse you mentioned. Thanks! Also, I LOVED Midcoast! Such a great read. I‘d love to find something similar. (edited) 1mo
Susanita There‘s a woman from Maine in my book club who recommends mysteries by Sarah Graves. 1mo
JamieArc @Chelsea.Poole The Nubble lighthouse is the one pictured at the top center. If you are in York and you go to the coast, you‘re almost certain to see it. 1mo
vivastory Salem's Lot is one of my favorite King books. It was recently the 50th anniversary of King's debut, Carrie, which is set in Maine. This one holds a special place in my heart as it started me reading King steadily. Another classic King set in Maine: Pet Sematary. 1mo
TheKidUpstairs I was about to recommend one, and then realized I'd read it because of your recommendation! 🤣🤣🤣 1mo
Chelsea.Poole @JamieArc wonderful! Thank you! 1mo
