The Book of Polly: A Novel | Kathy Hepinstall

Thai book is SO good! It made me laugh and cry and everything in between. Polly was so entertaining and I really loved how the story progressed and the characters developed. We saw Polly‘s hard core soften as the story developed and especially after she found out about how the “Bear” was going to kill her. I would 100% recommend this book. So, so good!

Such a depressing play. The mood of the book is dim and sad and so is the plot. I can‘t believe that Willy just up and killed himself at the end. I also really liked how Miller uses the names to portray something deeper than just a name. Honestly, I just feel bad for Linda. Great writing, but sad read.

This book really surprised me. There was so much that I didn‘t expect. I really thought that Rachel finally finding out about Jack and Paige‘s affair was the climax, but then BOOM! Wild car hits the wedding party. What the heck?!?! Anywho, really kept me hooked. All of the clues were weaved together so well.

Good commentary on the uselessness of war and how peoples greed, especially the greed of those charge, affects everyone's personal integrity. Everything that went on in the book reflected back to the fact that the bureaucracy is inconsiderate of everyone and lacks all reason. Honestly kinda long, but I would overall recommend this book.

What Comes After: A Novel | JoAnne Tompkins

Pretty good. I really liked all the connections made throughout the book, but it made me sad. So many characters raw inner selves were exposed, literally and figuratively. (Sorry, bad joke). It was interesting, but I think that it was too long. Overall, meh.

I barely got through this book. It was super long and hard to keep reading because the plot was super slow and anticlimactic. There was some character development, but Mr. George Knightley was the only person who didn't relish in drama and seemed to actually do something with his life besides wallow in wealth and status. I also totally knew that they would get together since he was the only one to challenge her word. Overall, a waste of my time.

Such an unpredictable plot twist. The characters are great and I love the twisting together of the two stories. This story is kinda sad and was an emotional roller coaster for me. I cried so hard at some parts. Overall a great story.

The plot was interesting. Not my favorite book ever or even close to my favorite, but not awful. The characters had depth and I really enjoyed the way the author had them develop.

I don't hate this book, but it was kinda hard to get through. The plot didn't really develop and the characters were slightly annoying and flat. Wouldn't entirely recommend.

They Went Left | Monica Hesse

Such a good book. It told a story of the lives of the liberated after World War 2 which is something that is often forgotten. It was a honest story with mystery and confusion that kept me hooked the whole time. I would 100% recommend especially if you like historical fiction.

The Wicked Widow: A Novel | Beatriz Williams
Mehso-so

This book is one that jumps from one story set in the past to another that is taking place in the future or in this case 1998. I really liked this book, but the connection between the stories was kinda muddled. Also, it wasn't until after I finished it that I realized that there may be other books that connect to this one. Those might clear a couple things up for me.

I really liked this book. It seems like the kind of book that would make a great action movie; there were so many unexpected moments and scenes of confusion and revenge. All in all, this book is worth your time. It grabs you and tells you a sweet and unpredictable story of a gangster's life and thoughts.

Great Classic. I loved all of the symbolism that was connected throughout the book. The ending was a real shocker. I really didn't love the characters, but they connected the themes so well that I can understand them and why the author gave them the traits that they portrayed in the book.

This is a great book. I felt so bad for her in the beginning of the book! She is such an interesting character. I also LOVE Tate. He is the arguably best character in this book. The ending was such a surprise, but I'm not totally thrilled with the ending. Great book overall though, would definitely recommend.

Sequel to “To Kill A Mockingbird“. I don't know. It was strange to see the changes in the characters and town, but it was also interesting at the same time. The ending was kind of confusing, but it was still pretty good. Although it is just marketed as it's own book, I would suggest reading “To Kill A Mockingbird“ before reading this book.

Educated: A Memoir | Tara Westover

This book made me sad. The way that she thinks at the beginning of this memoir is so depressing; it's as if she is seeing everything through a muddled, controlling filter. Once we start to see the veil ripped off, she realizes that it was always just her controlled mind holding her back from really thinking for herself.

The memoir of a girl growing up in a crazy, confusing household. Her life is so fascinating. Although her life was a patchwork of hardships, she lived through it and exceeded everyone's expectations of what people in her position could achieve. She and her siblings stuck together and helped each other to make it to a better life. A roller coaster of emotions all wrapped up in one book.

I liked the story, but sometimes the narration was too much for me. It was just sometimes a little hard to keep her "regular" thoughts and her "crazy" thoughts straight. The plot was good, and I love that we saw character development not only between Aza and the love interest, but also between her and her best friend. Overall, the story was just really well sculpted, and I would definitely recommend.

Such a good book! I love this book SO much! Raw view of the holocaust though the eyes of a young Jewish man. We follow him thorough his story: the love, the pain, and the joy of reunification with loved ones. I would 100% recommend.

The History Major: A Novella | Michael Phillip Cash

An interesting quick-read. Neat look at the character's past and present through historic events and characters. Kind of low quality writing at times; too much description that confuses the plot, repeating descriptors within the same sentence, etcetera. All in all though, an okay read.

Not gonna lie, at the beginning, I almost put this book down; it was just full of sad and confusing dialogue and graphics. Once I got through the beginning, though, it got better. Such a interesting story of a lost and lonely girl finding herself in a world of abuse and oppression.

Book that shows the different forms of grief that people can go through after losing a loved one. A very raw look at lose, but not the most interesting book. The plot was pretty flat. I enjoyed it okay, though.

Super good book. Not your classic “read for class“ book. Although there is lots of symbolism, you don't feel like you have to dissect every sentence to find it. A great coming of age story that shows the innocence and yet deep knowledge that children posses.

Such a classic that I have been wanting to read for a while. Unlike some, I don't really like to try to figure out the ending, but I genuinely did not expect it to end the way it did. I love the character development; all of their stories end up weaving together so well!

Such a good book. I've never read a book that was set in that time period and place which is one of the great things about Ruta Sepetys's books. The way that she twists the plot is beautiful and keeps you in your toes. I love all of the characters and side conflicts in this story.

Sad, but good. Shows raw feelings from a relatable perspective that makes you realize that not everything is how seems. People have emotions that they don't show that can takeover their lives without anyone ever noticing.
