blurb

I believe in a more modern day and age, this story would become much more dangerous. It originally took place in the 1980s, so the machinery is still quite old compared to the technology now. The Steel Ball Run was dangerous enough, with the stand powers and weaponry. However, modern weapons would make the race much more deadly. I don't really think a change in location would make much of a difference since it already took place on Earth.

The author is very good at world-building which is evident in his numerous works. I believe this is one of his best cases of sublime world-building. As they traverse through the USA, he is able to explain each environment very colorfully, making sure not to miss any details. Araki is also quite skilled in character design as all his characters are unique and their personalities are all varied. They are the main points that interest me.

The character that taught me the most was a side character named Marco. He was merely an innocent servant, but one day, he was falsely sentenced to death after his owner was convicted for treason against the King. This taught me that the world is a cruel place and no matter who you are, bad things can still come. This also taught me that you have to savour every moment you have, because you'll never know when it will all be gone.

Fiction: One lesson this volume taught me was to keep going and to never give up your goals. In this volume, Gyro Zeppeli, a mostly normal competitor, was racing against Diego Brando, the best jockey in the world, and Pocoloco, a person with the power of very good luck. Even those factors racing against him, Gyro still kept going with his sheer determination and won the first leg of the Steel Ball Run race.

Fiction: In the book, Johnny Joestar embarks on a race, the Steel Ball Run, to learn how to use the power of spin and hopefully regain the ability to walk. I feel like I can somewhat connect to this because school is just one long race where I plan on learning new things so that I can walk on my own two feet when I become a fully-fledged adult. This connection helps me understand the feeling of wanting to know more so I can reach a goal

How did you choose this book: This is the only book I have
This book follow the journey of Greg Heffley as he ventures the world of middle school. It's filled with moments both good and bad (mostly bad) and it's sure give you a few chuckles.
