I'm not sure how I feel about this book. I hope the main relationship was written to be intentionally problematic, because hoo boy. It might be sexy when a man takes control, but it's another thing entirely when someone says "No, I really don't want to," and the other person laughs and says, "Yes, you do," and carries on with what they were doing. This was not a steamy romance, but another look into the fucked up reality we put ourselves in.

This is so me. Working yourself up to say something only to immediately believe something unforgivably stupid just came out of your mouth. Yup.

Hoping this book lures me out of a deep reading lull... Only one and a half chapters in, I think I'll be engaged the whole time but I'm not sure how I'll feel by the end. The lengthy hold list from the library gives me hope!

ChasingOm I just finished it. I picked it up after seeing it on a Book Riot list -- what did you think? 8y
bay-leaf @ChasingOm I finished it tonight! It had some pretty squirmy parts, but it painted such a realistic picture of life as a fat girl. I loved watching her physical transformation and how it impacted her character... All in all, it was a pretty gut-wrenching reading experience, but I liked it. 8y
ChasingOm @bay-leaf I agree with all of that! It made me want to buy a copy for all of my friends with young daughters. I'm not sure I really liked it because I wasn't expecting it -- wasn't ready for it, I guess -- but it surely was the most realistic book I've read on the topic. 8y
