King is my favorite author in terms of consistency and he is responsible for my favorite series, The Dark Tower. This book was filled with many of those things that I love so much about King‘s writing- remarkably deep character development, his ability to make me care about the characters, the horror and vividness of the imagery. My only issue is that the story felt short somehow and the ending didn‘t feel as complete as I had hoped it would.

This book is still one of my favorites after 17 years since first reading. I recommend this especially to young readers because it is likely the first time one will encounter a lot of the ideas and concepts discussed at length. This was an extremely formative book for me as a high school student and I still carry a fondness for it all these years later and upon re-reads.
