Pickpick

With easy-to-follow arguments and logical conclusions, Going Clear is an unbiased look. Wright presents both pro- and anti-Scientology arguments without implications. (He only presents his own opinion about them when he discusses his experiences with them.)

The book follows Scientology‘s history in a journalistic tone, making for an easy read.

Pickpick

4 out of 5 stars | Worthwhile & Enjoyable

Alice Hoffman‘s Practical Magic is an ephemeral fairy-tale. She deftly mixes horror, romance and fantasy. Lines will linger in the reader‘s mind long after the book is back on its shelf.

Unfortunately, the dreamy blend of narrative threads can quickly unravel because of the organizational structure. You may find yourself pausing halfway through what should be considered a chapter, breaking the spell.

“For more than two hundred years, the Owens women have been blamed for everything that has gone wrong in their Massachusetts town. Gillian and Sally have endured that fate as well.... But all Gillian and Sally wanted was to escape. One will do so by marrying, the other by running away. But the bonds they share will bring them back—almost as if by magic...”

This queen will decide her own future – and the princess who needs rescuing is not quite what she seems.”

I‘m now 20% of the way through Gᴏɪɴɢ Cʟᴇᴀʀ. So far, we‘ve touched on Hubbard‘s early philosophy and career. How did he became so famous with such early turbulence?

“But it is one thing to make that universe believable, and another to believe it. That‘s the difference between art and religion.”
