Hello everyone! I was wondering if anyone had any book recommendations? I‘m looking for a book that will make me laugh or smile. Something cheerful and cozy. 😊 It‘s dark and cold here today, and I‘ve been ill lately and kind of struggling. I could use a pick me up 📖📚❄️ Also, the picture is at a provincial park a few weeks ago, before the snow hit. Thank you! 💛

ozma.of.oz One of my favorite reads of last year. ❤️ 12h
Nutmegnc @ozma.of.oz My first thought as well!! 12h
AWildMandaPanda @ozma.of.oz thank you for the recommendation! I‘ve seen this book before but haven‘t picked it up. I‘ll have to grab a copy 😊🙏 12h

I‘ve read “Miss Iceland” and quite enjoyed it and the authors particular writing style. “Hotel Silence” is about a man who is at a crossroads. He doesn‘t know who he is, or where his life is going. Alone, and in pain, he decides to travel to a war torn country to commit suicide. Once there, he meets the hotel owners and locals and slowly begins to find purpose. ⭐️⭐️⭐️3.5

I‘ve tried to read this one for a few months now and I can‘t get past the part I‘m stuck at. I just can‘t. I liked that I could recognize the parts of Halifax the author mentioned but the book was moving too slow and the characters were hard to like. Maybe I‘ll pick it back up later 🤷‍♀️

I‘m only three chapters in and it‘s already breaking my heart.

CuriousG Heartbreaking, yet such an important thing to read about. Had a few ugly cries while reading this one. Even my dad (who is quite conservative and not a reader) absolutely blew through this when I encouraged him to read it and has really reconsidered his opinions on some things. Very powerful. 2mo
AWildMandaPanda @CuriousG it really is such an important thing to read about! I‘ve had to pause the audiobook several times because I feel equally enraged and heartbroken. 2mo

Hello Everyone! This is a silly request but I am looking to read a book either about or by an author from every Canadian province and territory. Thus far, I have read northern Ontario, Nova Scotia, and Newfoundland. Preferably I‘d like to read a non-fiction and fiction selection. I‘d love some suggestions! 😊Also, the photo is from a local beach where my boyfriend proposed. I thought it was a nice photo of one of our beautiful provincial beaches.

ShelleyBooksie One of the books in Kathy Reichs series (fiction) is set in Miramichi, New Brunswick. Will O The Wisp by Catherine Spray is a lovely collection of New Brunswick ghost stories. 4mo
ShelleyBooksie Louise Penney's Inspector Gamache series is set in Quebec. Recommend starting with the first book in the series 4mo
ShelleyBooksie From The Ashes by Jesse Thistle is an amazing non fiction book set in Sasketchewan 4mo

Megabooks Loved this book set in Montreal 4mo
Megabooks Also loved this set in Winnipeg. It won Canada Reads this year. 4mo
AWildMandaPanda @ShelleyBooksie oh, thank you! I haven‘t found one from New Brunswick yet. And I love ghost stories! 4mo
AWildMandaPanda @ShelleyBooksie I will definitely have to add it to my list! Thank you! 4mo
AWildMandaPanda @Megabooks I will have to check them both out, thank you! I have quite a good list now! I just need PEI (Anne of green gables I suppose) and Alberta and the territories 😊 4mo
llwheeler Richard Van Camp is an author possibility for NWT (I've only read one of his, short story collection moccasin square gardens, but I enjoyed it). If you check the #ReadCanada hashtag you can find some other ideas. Also, beautiful picture and congrats! 4mo

I enjoyed the writing style of this book and it was clear that Ruth Ware is a great writer; however, I found the twist to be slightly predictable. Not right away, but the reason for the murder didn‘t seem to make sense. The build up to the murder is well done but the actual reason was lack luster. #mystery ##thriller #ruthware

Or do you know of anymore have any suggestions for children‘s graphic novels? #coraline #graphicnovel #mustread #bibliophile

TracyReadsBooks These are both great and very popular in our library. If you want/need more ideas, I would suggest the Amulet series by Kazu Kibuishi; Smile, Sisters, Drama, Guts by Raina Telgemeier; Awkward, Brave, Crush by Svetlana Chmakova; New Kid by Jerry Craft; El Deafo by Cece Bell; Be Prepared by Vera Brosgol; The Prince and the Dress Maker by Jen Wang. So many great options for young readers! 2y
xicanti I highly recommend the Nameless City series by Faith Erin Hicks. The Yotsuba books by Kiyohiko Azuma are also fantastic. 2y
