Second watercolor painting for today. Our anniversary is next week, and I really want to frame one of my paintings as a gift for my partner, so I‘m trying out a few different paintings to see which one I like best. #LitsyCrafters #watercolor

I haven‘t really been actively creating much lately, so I haven‘t had anything to post for #LitsyCrafters , but I did pull out my watercolors to practice blending colors today. I want to do a larger landscape, but I‘m still trying to figure out which shades go with which. I haven‘t used this palette in a while, so it may take a few more gos until I really am comfortable with the way the colors go together, but it‘s progress, so I‘ll take it. :)

Nutmegnc I love your palette!! 10mo
slategreyskies @Nutmegnc thanks! I made it myself. :) 10mo
Nutmegnc @slategreyskies no way?! For yourself or do you have a shop?? 10mo

slategreyskies @Nutmegnc I don‘t have a shop, no. I just purchased an empty palette box and a bag of plastic pans. I used liquid watercolors mixed with something clear (I forget the name of it right now) and made sure I labeled the sides of all the pans, so I know what color to replace it with if I use all of one color up. I actually have several palettes I‘ve made, including one old tea tin. For that one, I stuck magnets to the bottoms of the pans to hold them. 10mo
slategreyskies @Nutmegnc it‘s not hard to do, but it does take some patience. I have fun choosing which colors to use in which palettes. Especially the mini palettes like the tiny old tea tin. It‘s only about the side of an Altoids tin, so I had to be really selective about which colors to include. 10mo
Nutmegnc Magnets!! What a great idea!! 10mo
Catsandbooks Wonderful! Any type of creating, no matter how big or small, is important! 10mo
LiseWorks I have been doing lots and lots of book marks lol, getting g ready for the farmers market this year. I have not been doi g any crocheting but I have started cross stich. I had not done so for 27 years. 10mo
slategreyskies @Catsandbooks Yes, I know what you mean. It‘s easy to put off being creative to do other things instead that aren‘t as rewarding (like dishes or laundry or even something like playing around on my phone). Balancing life and making time for creativity can be challenging for me, but it‘s so rewarding when I do. 💕 10mo
slategreyskies @LiseWorks Oh, those both sound great! I think bookmarks are fun to make too. I like to make them blank on the backs, because as I‘m reading, I make lists of words and ideas on the backs of the bookmarks. It‘s kinda cool, and over the years I‘ve amassed a pile of bookmarks with cool word and idea lists on them. Glad you‘re getting into cross stitch too. That sounds fun and relaxing as well. :) 10mo

Finally had the chance to sit down and paint a little this afternoon. I painted these notecards following the Galaxy Hair tutorial by Let‘s Make Art (link in the comments if anyone‘s interested). These will probably end up being sent out for upcoming swaps.

Which one do you like better — top or bottom? Why?
I think I prefer the bottom which is also the second one I painted but I‘m curious about other‘s opinions.

KateReadsYA Top-her posture is more relaxed 😌 12mo

MeganAnn @KateReadsYA how interesting! I didn‘t notice that until you mentioned it. ☺️ I used the same outline for both so it‘s interesting how painting that one line more angled (completely by accident) makes such a difference in her posture! 12mo
MeganAnn @DinoMom thank you! 😘 12mo
Suet624 These are gorgeous! I like the bottom one slightly more. 12mo
wanderinglynn They‘re both amazing! I like the posture of the top but I like the green accents in the hair on the bottom. The green makes her pop. 12mo
Soubhiville Those are so beautiful! I like the posture of the lower one a tiny bit better, but wow they‘re both amazing. 12mo
megnews My daughter likes the top one a little better because of the star. 12mo
Karisa They are both so pretty! I think I like the top one a smidge more because of the placement of the big star (it‘s like an earring or airpod). It just draws the eye back to her beautiful face 12mo
marleed Oh my goodness, you are talented! 12mo
ravenlee I like them both. I feel like the bottom is more relaxed and the top is more…like she‘s thinking or wishing hard on something. 12mo
MeganAnn @Suet624 @wanderinglynn @Soubhiville @megnews @Karisa @marleed thank you all for your lovely comments! It‘s been so long since I‘ve painted anything. It‘s so interesting to me to read why a specific one speaks to each of you. 12mo
MeganAnn @ravenlee that‘s an interesting perspective. I can definitely see how those subtle differences speak to different emotions. Thank you! 12mo
curiouserandcurioser @MeganAnn i think theyre both beautiful-i really like the star. I think the top one looks like she is deep in thought and with the bottom one, she looks completely at peace with whatever decision she has come to. They both radiate joy💜 12mo
WJCintron Second one!! Amazing job!! I like her facial expression better and the hair flows better too!! 👏 12mo
StillLookingForCarmenSanDiego Gorgeous. 💚💙 12mo
LiseWorks I also like the second one, her shoulders are straighter like she is more content 12mo
mcctrish I think like the second better ( although they are both amazing) because it reminds me a bit of when Adriene of yoga says ‘lift your heart‘ 12mo
MeganAnn @curiouserandcurioser what a wonderful perspective! Thank you! ❤️ 12mo
MeganAnn @mcctrish I can definitely see that! ❤️ 12mo
curiouserandcurioser @MeganAnn youre so welcome❤ 12mo

Our community art center is getting rid of their library so they did a book giveaway. I‘m sad that they‘re closing their library, but happy for the stack I got out of it. Bittersweet.

3 fantastic 1950s watercolor prints of various dpots in Israel. I've no place to hang them, but I've got them.

Pickpick

In this graphic novel, Ursa, a firefighter, crosses paths with Rafi, a Mexican immigrant. It's the story of a brief encounter between two people. Full of symbolism, with a touch of magic realism, it's a very interesting book to discover.
