I have now read up to part 3! I think I have all of the characters straight now. Patrick and Shawn Townsend are both hiding something. I think Shawn cheated on Helen with Nell and possibly, Patrick (identified as the Satan of the town) took care of her! I didn't see the Mark and Katie connection coming at all. What else does Josh know about his sister's death? I feel sad for Lena's losses! Will someone else die in the drowning pool? #ucfproflc

Ehoffman It is definitely easier to keep all the characters straight at this point in the book, but still so many unknowns. Jules is really having a hard time keeping it together! #ucflitprof 7y

I wonder if Sean truly saw his mother jump?? It's not clear yet. All the characters are so odd, the whole town it seems. Maybe from so many deaths in the Drowning Pool??? #ucflitprof

DrSpalding It is strange that these people want to live in a place that is known for a "drowning pool"! 7y
Mlittle The character development is so intriguing! Every chapter there is a new twist and turn so that I'm always wondering what is going on! Of course, why did the teacher and the student have to be having an affair? Why does it always turn up in some of these plots? Still can't figure out 7y
Ehoffman Agreed!! I also wonder what is going on with Helen?? She is slowly, but surely losing it?? 7y

The opening vignette makes sense now! Poor Libby and all the real women that suffered as the author described. This is not a genre that I would normally choose to read, but it is drawing me in! My confusion, early on with so many characters, has eased and am anxious to see where the story takes us!! #ucflitprof

CWalters I agree with all of your comments, Liz. I had to read ahead-- I wanted to read to the end. Can't believe the brilliance of the author to weave this all together. 7y
DrSpalding @cwalters This is what I thought about The Girl on the Train. I think I am a bit behind you all. Hopefully it will start to make more sense soon! 7y
CherylVDM The characters make my head spin. They are all so demented. Can't wait to read on. 7y
Mlittle I agree! Each one has more secrets than the other. The character development is complex and interesting. I also had to develop a character "cheat sheet"". Love the book! Litsy is fun too! 7y
