(2024) Reread in anticipation of the second book coming out in early March. I have recommended this book endlessly the last few years and for good reason.

(2018) First read as ARC. Screams to the whole world to drop everything and read this book. Awards received throughout the following year.

This was the first book that came to mind when I saw this question. A beautiful story of a father & daughter traveling in a school bus. Their story, the stories of those they meet & the lessons learned are wonderfully written.

Karisimo Great minds….! 8mo
rubyslippersreads Does this count as a (Yellow Brick) Road trip? 😂👠🌈 8mo

This is an excellent MG book of a father and daughter trying to outrun their sadness. They meet lots of fun characters along the way!

Read4life I picked the same book. 🤓 8mo

This storybook tells about the journey of young refugees. Simple objects provide comfort in uncertain times as they struggle to define where “here“ is when it isn't home. With a little imagination, a cup becomes a boat, a blanket a sail, and so on to aid them on their journey.

#SummerSpecial Day 2: Not just any #boat but a Story #Boat. Narrated in lyrical text that builds up on words and phrases cumulatively leading to the next stop in one‘s journey, and accompanied by art that is both heartfelt and hopeful – is of its own league altogether. My review here: https://wp.me/pDlzr-mAF perfect for #DecolonizeReading2023 too.

This is middle grade magic 🌟💫 A perfect, sweet, thoughtful, lovely look at found family and life and loss and grief and running from the things you don‘t want to face. It‘s not cheesy, it‘s not silly, it‘s just the absolute best kind of middle grade book. I loved it ❤️ (Thinking of using it as a read aloud or lit circle choice for my kiddos this year) #teachersoflitsy

“Sometimes making friends is tough, and sometimes it‘s as simple as finding someone who loves books and kittens as much as you do.” In my world, “kittens” needs to be replaced with “puppies,” but no truer statement has ever been said. Looking at you, @Allyneedsbooks 🤓🤩🤗❤️
