Higgins is hysterical. I was wrapping new books and had to pause and visit the #underthedustcover cover and then of course read the book. Higgins provides coloring pages! https://books.disney.com/book-author/ryan-t-higgins/#activiti...

Bookzombie I love Higgins‘s books, especially Penelope. I wish they would make a stuffed animal of her. Note: I‘m an adult with no kids. 😂 7mo
mandarchy @Bookzombie stuffies are for everyone! I can't believe they haven't made one yet. 7mo

I've only read 2 books in this series #outloud to my students, and by far, this edition is the funniest. It's about having space and accepting others. It has a touch of romance. Romance is hard to find in the pre-K to 3rd grade target range.

After a very sad day for Ky politics (the bill banning gender-affirming care for transgender youth plus “don‘t say gay” in school plus some other sh.. was passed), I needed retail therapy. My kid clients love the Penelope T.Rex books, & I do, too. Plus, Gwenda Bond‘s latest & the 3rd in Manda Collins‘ mystery/romance series.

Tamra 😒 it‘s hard to understand. (The political injustice, not retail therapy!) 13mo
Scochrane26 @Tamra They did have a part that banned mental health professionals from giving gender-affirming care, but we think they took it out. It‘s still confusing. But, as a therapist who has several teens with different gender identities, it‘s frustrating. I have a social work Board & ethical code, don‘t need the government telling what I can talk about in sessions. Not to mention the other parts of the bill. Lawmakers are so out of touch with schools. 13mo
Scochrane26 @tamra Thanks for understanding! 13mo
Tamra @Scochrane26 ugh, it‘s just unbelievably intrusive, unjust, and inhumane. 13mo

Sometimes having my kids doing virtual school means I get to see awesome things. Dude the Eldest's class watched the Forest of Reading Blue Spruce winner announcement this morning (hosted by Ali Hassan, who should host all the things all the time). When Bad Dog was announced as the winner, the whole class erupted in cheers.

So if you're looking for a great read for a 7 year old, the tagged book has the whole hearted approval of these grade 2s!
