I‘m glad I finally read this. It‘s been sitting unread on my shelf for too long. Wilson‘s honesty in here is refreshing. The ways he deals with mental illness and how he struggled so long was hard to read about, but so relatable. Also, I love how passionate he is about his music. I always get a sense of his childlike joy when I hear him talk and that holds true for this memoir as well. Overall, a solid memoir by a lovable American classic.
My internet has been out today, preventing me from watching the new Sandman series. However, this has forced me to break my reading slump. I‘m only through the first chapter of this memoir, yet already enjoying it thoroughly.
I would say that you need to be a hard core fan for this read. My first roommate was a friend of both David Marks and Terry Hand, so I partied a bit with both when I was in Los Angeles. David‘s life story is sad, but since he doesn‘t seem to feel sorry for himself, I tip my hat. His group, The Moon, were awesome and their records have been enjoyed many times by moi.
According to Wikipedia this is a faux memoir, possibly plagiarized. Only Dr. Landy knows for sure and he's dead. When money is involved you never know. Right now people are worried about Richard Simmons who hasn't been in the public eye for awhile. This was published in 1991.
