I‘m culling books from the shelves in my parents‘ guest room while we‘re visiting (there‘s more to that story) and finding some interesting things. A collection of futuristic sci-fi stories from 1991, by authors like Jane Yolen, Bruce Coville, Patricia McKillip, and Anne McCaffrey. Not any of their best work.

Mehso-so

I‘m still spending a lot of time in bed since my recovery from my knee replacement surgery is much slower than anticipated. I‘ve been reading mostly lighter fare. This is a collection of (scary) short stories related to flying. I don‘t care for horror or the supernatural, wh was the focus of many of these. There were a few that I enjoyed though, including one about what might happen if torture advocate John Yoo got a taste of his own medicine

Lynnsoprano I‘ve had a couple of friends who have undergone knee replacement in the past few months, and I know it takes time. Hang in there! Sending lots of positive thoughts your way ❤️ 3d
arubabookwoman @Lynnsoprano Thank you so much for the encouragement. Until this surgery, I never thought of myself as a pain wimp, so the length of time for recovery has caught me by surprise. We‘re moving to Florida in April, so I need to get going on some packing! 1d
Lynnsoprano @arubabookwoman If I may ask, where in Florida? That‘s where I live 😄 16h
arubabookwoman @Lynnsoprano We are not exactly sure yet. Our oldest son lives near Tampa, so we hope to settle somewhere between Tampa and Sarasota. Our plan is to spend a few months in vacation rentals trying out and getting a feel for a few different towns before we focus on a specific place to settle. I would like to be near a beach, but I don‘t want to live in an area that is 100% tourists or snowbirds. Where in Fla are you? 13h
Lynnsoprano @arubabookwoman We‘re across the state in Wellington, which is west of West Palm Beach. We visit Sanibel Island when we want to go to the beach. Totally understand your preferences. We moved here 22 years ago when hubby took a job in the area. Living in Florida is interesting 😄 I hope we can connect sometime! 5h

Anthologies are always hit or miss, as I think I have said recently already, but this one definitely leaned more toward hit. The stories I expected to be good were good, I didn't absolutely hate anything in it, and I found some new authors to read more of. Success!

This is what an $8 donation to Bitch Media got me, lol. I also get the e- newsletter. The handle on the cup was in pieces in the box but that‘s ok, lol. I will still drink my ginger tea with lemon out of it with female pride, lol 💪🏽💪🏽👊🏽👊🏽✊🏽✊🏽❤️❤️

I was very excited to see Genevieve Valentine had a story in here, and it did not disappoint me.
