Kitten's First Full Moon is a children's picture book written and illustrated by Kevin Henkes. It was published in 2004, the book tells the story of a kitten who thinks the moon is a bowl of milk and tries many different attempts to drink it. It 2005 Caldecott Medal for his illustrations. The book is heart warming and would be perfect for children with cats. The illustrations are black and white but convey the story very well.

This book is great for the classroom to explain that it is okay to make mistakes, it is just me of the was we learn.

This book is silly to read but can also allot for a deeper feelings about perseverance. I think this would really good to read when students may be feeling hopeless.

The value of this book depicts the feelings of the kitten through the black and white features and the deep shading.
