I went into this book knowing this is not my typical read, so I already kind of had low expectations.

There is so much violence and evil in this book, that it almost felt like it had to be an allegory of something, or a cautionary tale, or it could just be a very violent world depicted. The darkness of tone didn‘t bother me. I persevered to check this off #BBRC for the #AnthropomorphicCharactersPublishedBefore2010 prompt.

LibrarianRyan This was such a big book series when I was still a children's librarian. I just didn't get it it. I didn't care for it either.

Librarybelle @hannah-leeloo @LibrarianRyan I can remember when this was incredibly popular at the library! I‘m not seeing it check out as much anymore, and I actually forgot about the movie until I started reading this. 2y
