The Healing Season of Pottery
The Healing Season of Pottery | Yeon Somin
7 posts | 3 read | 2 to read
Set for international release this fall, this cozy Korean bestseller invites readers into a warm, sunlit pottery studio where a burned-out young TV broadcast writer begins to heal, working the clay, piece by piece, season by season. After breaking down at the office and abruptly quitting her job, thirty-year-old Jungmin holes up in her apartment, speaking to no one for days on end. When she finally emerges, she stumbles upon a pottery studio in her neighborhood and is invited in by the mysterious workshop teacher. The smell of clay, the light filtering through the plant filled windows, the friendly cat, and the incredible coffee the students drink awaken her senses and make her feel alive and inspired for the first time in months. As the seasons change, Jungmin slowly returns to herself and builds a new community with the other members of the studio, who are all working through their own pasts at the pottery wheel. When the holidays approach and snow piles up on the studio windowsill, Jungmin realizes how much she has changedwith her hands busy and her mind clear, she may be ready to face the memories shes been running from and open her heart. For fans of What You Are Looking For Is in the Library and Welcome to the Hyunam-dong Bookshop, Yeons charming English-language debut is a testament to the joy of slowing down in a fast-paced world, and an homage to the art of ceramics and the power of friendship. Readers wont want to leave the enchanting world of The Healing Season of Pottery after the final page.

January 5, 2025 Finally finished my first book of 2025! ✅ The ending was very cute: Jungmin decides to write a novel because people at Soyo Workshop all agreed about how talented a writer she was. She did not have vases of her own because not many were that good so she chooses to go back to Goseong, where Gisik is from. Surprisingly, Gisik knew this and gifts her a vase of his which she accepts. She shares with him her ideas about the novel ❤️

January 5, 2025 MY FIRST POST OF THE NEW YEAR! Happy New Year. Hope everyone had a safe and healthy new year. I am super close to finishing The Healing Season of Pottery. I love the book because the cover, right off the bat, gives off winter vibes, and what is better than Winter AND pottery? Next post will be the review of the book. Pictured above are the five books I wish to read this month ✌🏻

December 28, 2024 As she is making pottery, she stumbles across a high school student named Gisik, and his girlfriend named Ara. Gisik has been doing pottery for 2 years and is willing to help out Jungmin by providing her some tips and suggestions on her pottery. When Gisik shares his ideas, she listens and continues to build on her skills. One of the pieces she makes is a vase which she ends up gifting to her mom. She knows her mom will like it.

December 28, 2024 So far I have read a little more than half of the book. The main character as mentioned before is Jungmin and she steps into what she thinks as a café, but is actually a pottery studio. There she meets two women who work at the studio and learns how to make pottery of her own. There is so much trial and error that she feels like giving up. However, she begins to feel a love towards pottery and continues making her pieces.

December 28, 2024 Actually chose this book as my next TBR. The cover of the book just screamed "Winter" and it was such a cozy looking book, that I had to pick it up and read. I am loving the book. It is my first book from this author and I am not mad about it. Pottery to me is a very calming hobby AND to the main character (Jungmin) as well. I have always wanted to do pottery myself but never had the chance or time. Maybe summer 2025?!
