Brooklyn Noir 3: Nothing But the Truth | 
pickThis is the first (only?) nonfiction book in the Akashic Noir series. The stories are written by former police officers, prosecutors, and journalists. Most of these cover crimes that probably didn‘t get much media attention outside of the immediate area. There‘s a strong sense of place and they read just like fictional noir: sad, hopeless, inevitable, and violent. This is another excellent entry in the series.
