(1925) It's a historical novel based on the life of an 18th century political financier. Mixed feelings about this one: blown away by its detail, exhausted by its Sturm und Drang; unsettled by antisemitic cliches I had expected to be undermined; drained by the prose which tested my German skills.

Banned by the Nazis because Feuchtwanger was a Jew and criticized Nazis. Banned in Boston because, I don't know, sex probably.
