This is my second Shah book, I love her writing. My favorite parts of her books are the details about Indian culture. Nita and Sophie were both very likable characters and I loved the heart portrayed in Rajiv, he wasn‘t bound by expectation and encouraged his only daughter in so many ways. Sophie needed this journey and I‘m glad she had the courage to make it. Book #22 in 2023

I‘m looking forward to discussing this #KindleUnlimited title with my book club next week! Told in two perspectives, in 2019 Sophie learns a startling truth that brings her from India to Paris in search of her mother. And in 1998, Nita arrives in Paris to find the happiness that has eluded her this far. Emotional, with a very talented audio performance, this engaging book is certain to lead to an interesting book club meeting!

Such an enjoyable read! I was right there with Sophie as she went through the emotional turmoil of learning her mom didn‘t die when she was little but instead left then and now is trying to track her down. And following Nita, the mother, through her journey of leaving & trying to discover herself was full of turmoil as well.
