Rick Mercer Report: The Paperback Book
Rick Mercer Report: The Paperback Book | Rick Mercer
6 posts | 9 read | 2 to read
Rick Mercer Report: The Book was the publishing phenom of 2007, hogging the top of the bestseller lists. Prime ministers memoirs came and went, and RMR outstayed them all. And now its back bigger and better and funnier than ever. Rick Mercer Report: The Paperback Book is an updated, expanded remix of its bestselling predecessor, containing 10,000 words of new material from the shows fifth season. Ricks celebrated rants are some of the sharpest political commentary to be found anywhere in the countrys media, and certainly the funniest. They are featured here, along with other moments from the show including encounters with Conrad Black, Jean Chrtien, and Anne Murray and many additional pieces, some of which first appeared on his website. Because when hes not jumping into a lake with David Suzuki or Bob Rae, or helping the leader of the Green Party kill a tree, Rick Mercer likes to relax by blogging. From Kabul, say. Or the bearpit of a leadership convention. Rick Mercer Report: The Paperback Book will help you make sense of five extraordinary years in the life of Canada or at least laugh despite them. From the Trade Paperback edition.

1. My mother-in-law gave me the tagged book at Xmas. A very Canadian book.
2. Happy All the Time by Laurie Colwin to a friend. (Trying to get others on the Colwin bandwagon.)
3. Endless Love is definitely an unusual love story! 😳

Like watching rants more than reading them. They aren‘t new ones either. A few interesting tales but nothing really special

I read this one Feb 14-16 & gave it 5 ⭐️on Good Reads. I sat on this review for a while. I didn‘t want my nostalgia for The Rick Mercer Report and my general fannish love for Mercer to colour this review. It‘s a good book. The rants are very good and I enjoyed the glimpse behind the scenes of the show.

“Where there is smoke, the couch is on fire; where there is an absurdity in life, or an injustice, or a point of view that needs exploring there should be a rant.” - Rick Mercer (I so miss his weekly show 😕 )
