President of the Whole Sixth Grade | Sherri Winston
1 post | 2 read | 1 to read
In this follow-up to President of the Whole Fifth Grade, Brianna navigates her toughest challenge yet: middle school! Brianna Justice is determined to raise enough money for the big class trip to Washington, D.C., but she's up against a lot: classmates who all pretend to be something they're not, a new nemesis determined to run her out of office, and the sinking feeling she's about to lose her two best friends for good. But just when she begins to lose hope, she comes to realize that sometimes surprises can turn out even better than the best-laid plans. Sherri Winston tells a story brimming with humor and heart as Brianna navigates the ins and outs of middle school, discovering that inspiration can come when you least expect it.

This RF Sunshine State Young Reader selection is a great way to bring some diversity to older elementary grades. This book gives great insight to older students about the drama and their future in school! I found this book to be a very fun read, but would benefit students best through an IR. https://www.teachingbooks.net/clp.cgi?master_id=45141&lf_id=10 This link allows teacher to talk about diversity with students after reading. #ucflae3414sp21

Adodd1 The UDL principal 7.1 would be great for this IR since it is a boom students can choose to read on their own. The EL strategy best fit would be 6, to monitor students comprehension. This could be done by asking the student questions after they finish each chapter. 3y
DrSpalding I added this to my stack. I agree this would be a wonderful independent read to add to your classroom library. 3y
