6 posts | 10 read | 23 to read
The perfect wife. A fairytale family. Don't believe your eyes. Jeanie and Matthew are a happily married couple who both have teenage children from previous relationships. No one said it would be easy to raise a blended family under one roof but Jeanie and Matthew are strong. They will make it work. And whilst Jeanie's step-daughter Scarlett rejects her, Jeanie will just have to try harder to win her over. But Jeanie has a past. A terrible secret she thought she'd buried a long time ago. And now, it's coming to the surface, threatening to destroy her new marriage. Someone is playing a terrifying game on Jeanie and she must put a stop to it once and for all. After all, a fairytale needs a happy endingdoesn't it? A compelling, dark and twisty psychological thriller that will grip fans of Behind Closed Doors, Between You and Me and The Teacher. What reviewers are saying about Claire Seeber ' A dark, twisting thriller that shows all too well how you can never escape the sins of your past.' Simon Kernick 'a clever, intense and fast-paced psychological thriller that left me on the edge of my seat until the very last page!' Ginger Cat Blog 'An action-packed, fast-paced psychological thriller with lots of characters with dark secrets.' Tracy Fenton, TBC on FB 'If you like a book with plenty of twists you will find plenty of them in this novel. Steph Book Blog

Didn't really grip me until about the last eighth. I never connected with Jeanie, who narrates. Her sister Marlena also provides occasional narration and I liked her better, even though we see less of her. The back cover copy says “Jeanie and Matthew are strong” but I definitely did not get that impression of Matthew and didn't like him at all. If his mother had been around he would've been a mama's boy. Instead he let his ex call the shots.

"I seem to have a thing for stories about families so dysfunctional that it‘s criminal. Evil parents, deranged siblings, you name it and I‘m drawn to it like a moth to a flame. So of course I couldn‘t pass up a book with a title so intriguing as this one…" Reviewed by Thalia https://goo.gl/QYeQ1W

This book has everything I look for in a good psychological thriller; intrigue, mounting tension, suspense, action, and drama. There was nothing that I felt was missing, and as the twists and turns were revealed I was completely fascinated and hanging on every word. More at www.novelgossip.com
