Consumption: A Ramnon Tale | Jae Mazer
2 posts | 1 read
Nell is caught in a toxic marriage, waiting for something to give. Wanting it all to end. But is her husband merely abusive, or is he something else? Something worse? Consumption is a folklore tale set in the prairies of Alberta, Canada. Join Nell as she scrambles to stay afloat in a crumbling life and abusive marriage, all while navigating the horrors of both a fantastical monster and a notorious killer. Consumption is another stand-alone installment in Jae Mazer's Tales from Ramnon, stories centred around the fictional afterlife of Fort Ramnon.

Pickpick

Vivid, clever horror well-crafted into a woman-centered tale In the style of Stephen King. Canadian author Jae Mazer partly based the story on the notorious real-life killer Swift Runner, who butchered & ate his family during a cold winter. One roots for Nell, the protagonist caught in an abusive marriage who fights a mythical monster. Children die. This brutal, frightening tale is the (good) stuff of nightmares! I know the author. #scary #vivid

Canadian horror author Jae Mazer weaves a tale of a survivor of domestic abuse into a terrifying legend of the Alberta prairies. Opening chapters are rich in scary yet smart prose. (Full disclosure: I know her & she is very smart and very cool.) #startsstrong #horror #readwomen
