Do I have Alma-ness?? If I don't, I want to! Gosh, this was a great and heartwarming story appropriate for adults and children of all ages. It is able to touch on sensitive topics like loneliness, isolation, and mental health issues in a way that is easy for young minds to relate to

This was such a sweet story of a girl finding her identity and being comfortable with who she is.

What was your favorite book in middle school?

Alma moved to the town of Four Points. She‘s homesick and every day feels less and less like herself.

But one day she finds a telescope and through its lens, she watches a star―a star that looks like a child―fall from the sky. Alma knows that it‘s up to her to save the star. And so, with the help of some unlikely new friends, she sets out on a quest that will take a little bit of science, a little bit of magic, and her whole self.

DNF the mom character was annoying, and the word repetition drove me up the wall. I did try this as an audiobook.

An imaginative tale of a girl trying to find herself and some friends in her new home. It is a great little fantasy with a nerdy@love of information. The characters are great. Each with their own strengths and weaknesses.

Quintessence was the first book I read in 2020 and is one of my top 12 books of 2020. The unique plot revolving around a fallen star unfolds into this lovely story about a young girl struggling with identity, loneliness, and self-worth in a new town. It was a gentle entry into a volatile year. @Andrew65 #12Booksof2020 Full review at https://itsallaboutthebook.org/2020/05/06/quintessence-by-jess-redman/

Andrew65 Let‘s hope you have as good a start to 2021. 3y
