I don't think I've ever read a book that so strongly made me think of SJWs. Maybe I'm more sensitive to it because of last night but a plot where only women are being targeted by cruel letters and nasty vandalism, while a Patriarch of a male-only church rails against women? This new prequel business is insulting to the earlier canon and insulting to the readers. I'll stick with Vanyel, Talia and Elspeth. Not impressed at ALL with Mags.

iread2much I agree, her original valdemar books were so much better. Have you tried her 100 kingdoms books? I like those much better even if they are very fluffy 8y
mahasoor Sorry for the delay @iread2much! I've only read her Calderaro books and the anthologies. I haven't given any of her other stuff a chance in ages, not since serrated edge and the Diana tregarde books (loved the race car elves so much, even though it's pure camp lol 😹😹) 7y
mahasoor Calderaro lol wow autocorrect, I meant Valdemar. 7y
iread2much Not a worry! The 100 kingdoms books have really fun world building, which is one of my must haves for any good fantasy book 7y

Mehso-so

This is going to be the last Mercedes Lackey book I buy (I think!). The Mags story has been progressively worse and worse and while Lackey will always have a spot in my heart, her Velgarth material is sucking louder and louder with each novel.

iread2much I completely agree, her books have just fallen drastically. So sad, she used to be one of my favorite authors. 8y
