Ginger Holtzman has fought for everything she's ever had-the success of her tattoo shop, respect in the industry, her upcoming art show. Tough and independent, she has taking-no-crap down to an art form. Good thing too, since keeping her shop afloat, taking care of her friends, and scrambling to finish her paintings doesn't leave time for anything else. Which ... is for the best, because then she doesn't notice how lonely she is. She'll get through it all on her own, just like she always does. Christopher Lucen opened a coffee and sandwich joint in South Philly because he wanted to be part of a community after years of running from place to place, searching for something he could never quite name. Now, he relishes the familiarity of knowing what his customers want, and giving it to them. But what he really wants now is love. When they meet, Christopher is smitten, but Ginger ... isn't quite so sure. Christopher's gorgeous, and kind, and their opposites-attract chemistry is off the charts. But hot sex is one thing-truly falling for someone? Terrifying. When her world starts to crumble around her, Ginger has to face the fact that this fight can only be won by being vulnerable-this fight, she can't win on her own.

This book is everything I have ever wanted in a #romance! Ginger is a queer cynical tattoo artist who owns her own shop in Philadelphia. Her whole life she's had to fight for who she is. Christopher is a happy-go-lucky redhead who's just opened a sandwich shop. I loved how it gender flipped the usual dynamics of nurturing woman who brings the man out of his shell. I also loved how integrated Ginger was in the queer community despite dating a guy.

CaseyTheCanadianLesbrarian Also, this book is incredible as an #audiobook. The voice actress has a really sexy voice. #QueerBooks #BisexualBooks #Romantsy 5y
Clare-Dragonfly A bisexual main character set in Philly?! Gimme! 5y

Friends! I didn‘t buy a single book in August! Go me!

I DID download four freebies, though, which meant I had to start filling in the gaps on the Freebies & ARCs page of my bookish bullet journal. Oh well. I read ‘em all ASAP after I got ‘em, so at least I get the satisfaction of seeing all those little Xs in a column.

The books were mostly great, too. SMALL CHANGE was (probably) my fave, while LEARNING CURVES was a little disappointing.

JoScho Yay you!!! 5y

This book is just so NICE, y‘all! There‘re a few darker threads from the get-go, like Christopher‘s worries over his brother, Ginger‘s insecurities surrounding her non-relationship with her family, and the misogyny she deals with within the tattoo industry, but for the most part it‘s about two people who like each other a LOT and care enough to explore that zing in mostly healthy ways. When they mess up, they check themselves. It WARMED MY HEART.

Breakfast involved a new book and a new-to-me hot sauce. I‘ll go heavier on it tomorrow now I know what it‘s like.

SMALL CHANGE is another currently-free book I couldn‘t resist, and it‘s great so far. One character owns a tattoo shop and the other has just started a sandwich & coffee shop, which makes this one of those glorious small business romances that‘s all about commerce AND art AND food. Sign me up.

Clwojick I‘m not crazy about most hot sauces, but I‘m obsessed with Heartbeat Hotsauce. I love when you can taste flavour along with feel the burn. Some just hurt, but have no flavour. Lol 5y
xicanti @Clwojick I‘m a big fan of spice, but I agree there‘s gotta be nuance. I used to love Wendy‘s spicy chicken sandwich when I was younger, but I had one last year for nostalgia and it tasted of nothing but cayenne. Ick. For hot sauce, I usually use Louisiana, which has a nice sweetness alongside the spice but demands a pretty heavy pour. My new bottle is Cholula, which has strong notes of garlic and vinegar. Yum. 5y
Clwojick 🤤🤤🤤🤤Garlic! Now that sounds like it‘s right up my alley! 5y
