Pickpick

This one is a low pick for me. I love reading outside North America because of the freedom that authors have to write in ways that likely would not get published here. Sometimes that can also mean the books are more challenging to read, as I found with this Fosse. I really enjoyed parts of this collection - particularly the story of a man whose dog is killed - and overall the challenge was worth it as I am still thinking about the stories.

Pickpick

My first Jon Fosse. I‘ve wanted to read him since before he won The Nobel Prize in Literature, but that certainly pushed me to read him sooner.

This is a short book, my edition is 70 pages told In vignettes about a man‘s childhood and teens. About hanging out with friends but also the introduction of death.

Book Depository closed yesterday. 2nd to last one I will ever get .😔this book is short pieces throughout his career . No bookmark , was hoping for another bookmark.

LeahBergen I didn‘t get a bookmark in any of these last shipments. 12mo
Leftcoastzen @LeahBergen did they give bunches away earlier or dump them in a recycling bin? That‘s the question!😄 12mo
batsy @Leftcoastzen @LeahBergen I was bummed not to get bookmarks too! Especially since they announced the new designs just weeks ahead of the closing, I think. 12mo
LeahBergen @Leftcoastzen @batsy I saw that bookmark announcement, too. Doesn‘t it seem like the closing caught them by surprise? 🤔 12mo
Leftcoastzen @LeahBergen @batsy That seems to happen more and more these days. The board of the Texas Observer magazine gave them like a day or 2 notice that they were shutting it down. I that case a go fund me started immediately and saved the day. 12mo
