An interesting look at how a conservative family learns how to help their 5YO transgender child transition.

Full of difficult and intimate truths presented with sensitivity. I am so in awe of the bravery of parents who embrace their very young children's trans identities, and so proud of these children - some of whom are still really babies - who are strong and persistent and secure in who they are. There's still a long way to go, but families like Ryland's are fighting the good fight.

Diving into my library ebooks, because I've got 11 days to read like 8 books. I've heard/seen lots of criticism online toward this family for "indulging" their child and "encouraging his behavior" because they "wanted a boy" and other kinds of anti-trans nonsense. So I'm interested to read their story.

BookishMarginalia I thought it was well done and thoughtful. 8y

Getting books together for my June GLBT display (that's what the poster says, I'm used to seeing LGBTQ but whatevs, I don't think the acronym police are gonna bust me.)
