An Amish Buggy Ride
An Amish Buggy Ride | Sarah Price
2 posts | 2 read
Quiet and soft-spoken, Kate Zook is the responsible eldest daughter in an Amish family and prides herself on fulfilling her role. Then, one fateful snowy night, she uncharacteristically speaks her mind--and unwittingly plays a part in a horrible accident. Afterwords, Kate's parents and brother become emotionally withdrawn, and Kate is unable to forgive herself. Someone outside the home takes an interest in Kate and notes her clear grief. Samuel, a local boy, has recently returned from a wild rumschpringe--the Amish term for exploring the wider world--and recommitted to his community. As Kate's heart begins to stir and cry out for happiness, she must rely on faith to find forgiveness or risk losing out on love.

Pickpick

3.75/5 stars. A good story about a young Amish woman struggling with her feelings of guilt/figuring out how she fits into her new roles in the family & community after her lack of interference in her brother's problems leads to a serious accident. Unlike so much Amish fiction, this book (written by someone who has lived in Lancaster County & was raised Mennonite) feels much closer to what living as an Amish young woman might be like. #HelloOctober

Look at that time stamp. Ugh, insomnia sucks. Starting up a new audiobook in hopes that I'll be able to relax and fall asleep soon. #HelloOctober #InsomniaLitsy

DebinHawaii Hope you get some sleep soon! 😴💤💤 8y
GlitteryOtters @DebinHawaii thanks! I finally did...at around 3 in the morning. 😂😂 Oh well! 8y
melbeautyandbooks Insomnia does suck. At least you are accomplishing something fun with your extra time. 8y
GlitteryOtters @melbeautyandbooks EXACTLY. I am so glad I can listen to audiobooks when struck with insomnia. When I was younger I used to just flip on the light and read for 30-40 minutes to try to relax before going back to bed again, but now that I am a married lady, that is not an option. Audiobooks are the perfect compromise--book relaxation for me, continued sleep for my husband. 😂 8y
