pickSecond installment.. I like it better than the first.. expands upon what came to pass in first book. Author still hell bent on anacondaesque sentences.. but it's a gymnastic reading pleasure to follow these from nose to tail 😁 one thing tho.. the bits about Indian people are dismissed quickly.. it's all about the whites. I suppose that's the point tho? Tally ho chaps! Onto the third installment!!
I have always loved these books, loved just as much the tv dramatisation The Jewel in the Crown. I‘ve recently been enjoying rereading a few chapters.😊
I read the first novel in ‘The Raj Quartet‘ (‘The Jewel in the Crown‘) last month and loved the way the author used different perspectives on an event. Now for the second volume.

For a while this series could have been put in #forgottenfiction. But when PBS was airing Indian Summers a few seasons ago, this series by Paul Scott got a new lease on life, because the PBS series of this book series was being re-aired.
I am also reading this for one of my goodreads challenges. A book in a series that is not the first volume.
