Just finished reading the tagged book. I think I liked Here If You Need Me a bit more, but this author always has something important to say. Somehow between writing about her fear as a mother as her son insists on joining the Marines, about her field experiences as a chaplain for the Maine Warden Service, and her thoughts on the Nazis and the Holocaust, she weaves in a discussion of people‘s selection of a sperm donor. Another Dollar Tree find.
pickThere's nothing better than taking a chance on a book at the Dollar Tree and loving it! I picked it up because I, too, am a military mom and the cover image tugged at my heart strings. Kate Braestrup does an excellent job describing a mom's pride and anxiety when her child enlists in the military. Letters to her children and stories from her job as a chaplain to the Maine Warden Service add to this engaging and often funny memoir.
