Published a year after his death, Bradbury‘s 2 novellas were lovely. Somewhere a Band is Playing is a story that RB wanted Katharine Hepburn to star in; she died before he could write a screenplay. Leviathan 99 is an outer space/time take on Moby Dick. RB was one-of-a-kind and still surprises me

Oh, I just got to where I now understand why it makes perfect sense for Bradbury to want Katharine Hepburn to play in this, we‘re it possible. It just made the whole story come together and it wasn‘t even in the book. I love when a small bit of outside information just makes everything that much more magical.

Apparently Bradbury wrote the first novella in this book, ‘somewhere in band is playing,‘ with the idea that Katharine Hepburn would someday star in the screen version, regardless of her age when it was complete. It took him over 50 years from starting the story to publication; Hepburn died about five years before that, but she is in the dedication.
