The Moon Book, a nonfiction(NF) picture book, is a great read for children who want to learn about space and the different moons. The book provides so much information about the moon, including its phases, history, affect on Earth, and so much more. The detailed pictures also add to the engaged reading experience and informational text. This book would be best used as a read aloud(RA) followed by the lesson activity.

morganhillman http://readwritethink.org/classroom-resources/lesson-plans/blast-vocabulary-inst... The UDL principle 3.1, activate or supply background knowledge, is used because the children begin the activity by writing down their previous knowledge about space and the moons. The EL 17, provide contextual support through audio visuals, models, demonstrations, realia, body language and facial expressions, is also met with this activity. 6y
morganhillman After reading the book aloud, the class will then take a virtual adventure to the moon and learn even more information and new vocabulary through a visual model and demonstration. #UCFLAE3414SP18 6y
Ryanne.H When I was researching books to read I saw this one! It looks super cute, and would be great for a child interested in space. Loved this post 😊 6y
DrSpalding Morgan, your post is thorough and includes excellent information as how to best implement the use of this book into a classroom. Your resource is of the highest quality and you have aligned the EL/UDL strategies well. 6y
