One of the most starkly beautiful and disturbingly powerful chapbooks of poetry I‘ve read this year. Brewer‘s debut explores opioid addiction in his native West Virginia.

I painted a bit, cooked some food and went right back to reading today. Oops.

This book of poems totally gutted me. The theme throughout was the oxy and drug epidemic in West Virginia. My family is from WV and everything about this hurts. Oof.

Amazing words.

I cannot begin to explain just how destructive the opioid crisis has been to my home state of WV. Reading about it in Brewer's poems is utterly heartbreaking.

Wow. If anything, this collection reminds me that the speaker and the poet can be two totally separate beings. I'm using this collection to finally write about the experiences that don't belong to me, and it is so refreshing.

This collection was raw and beautiful and dirty and everything that it needed to be.
