Last Trenton concert in the park, one of my favorite Philly funk rock bands was blowing it out. During the break pulled out a book. Lady came over and asked me about it. We talked about the ability of fiction as well as music to break you from your cages and take you to places you never been. We have people of all backgrounds here dancing and getting along.

TobeyTheScavengerMonk I have this exact edition! Somewhere... 6y

Often when I‘m looking for something light and fun and humorous I will reach for a Stainless Steel Rat novel, yet for some reason I had never read Bill the Galactic Hero.

One thing I love about Harrison is his ability to effectively use awkward phrasing to make his crazy scenes feel even more bizarre and hilarious.

Pickpick

If Starship Troopers is the model for pro-military science fiction, then this is the model for the anti-military crowd. Harrison's military is cruel, sadistic, stupid and bureaucratic to a fault. It makes for a funny read, in a morbid way, as Bill bumbles and stumbles his way through adventures he never really understands.

I have GOT to stop buying new books!! This is my current TBR mountain. If I read one book a week, I have enough books for 6 years! SIX YEARS!! And that doesn't include the dozen or so books I have in ebook form.

Swe_Eva Emphasizing. I‘ll see your six years and raise you 22 yrs 8 mnths... 😱🙄😂 6y
swynn Only six years? And only a dozen ebooks? I am in awe of your self-control 😀 6y
RamsFan1963 I guess I'm not so insane after all, just a rank amateur lol 6y

Already laughing from page 1. Might be one of my favorite opening paragraphs...

After the life and death battle in Micro, I decided I needed something light, something to make me laugh.
