I read the first one of these when it was published and didn't enjoy it but Tony Parsons clearly had a thing for #shoesoncovers! #jubilantjuly @RealLifeReading

When I made my list of November birthdays for the #lazyphotochallenge I hadn't planned to slam my first writer ? but these books (Man and Boy was the first and based on his real experiences of single fatherhood) haven't stood the test of time. They're formulaic and the observations a little trite. However, the line "I once read somewhere that, in any relationship, the one who cares the least is the one with all the power," HAS given me pause.

EnidBiteEm #happybirthday ... I think 🤔 8y
thegirlwiththelibrarybag I've heard that line before (and there is a fair amount of truth there) but never the author... 8y
EnidBiteEm @thegirlwiththelibrarybag it was one of the better lines in the novel. I agree there is some truth there, but I also think there is power in walking away even if you do care the most, if there's an imbalance. 8y
